Shared here is the statement from PPIC, "The PPIC Statewide Survey delivers nonpartisan, objective, advocacy-free information on the perceptions, opinions, and public policy preferences of California residents. PPIC invites input, comments, and suggestions from policy and public opinion experts and from its own advisory committee, but survey methods, questions, and content are determined solely by the PPIC survey team. PPIC relies on a rigorous survey methodology..."
- One in four Californians name water supply and drought as the state’s top environmental issue; 63% say water supply is a big problem in their region.
- About six in ten (63%) are very concerned about climate change increasing the severity of wildfires and drought.
- Majorities across party lines favor prioritizing alternative energy sources, such as wind, solar, and hydrogen.
As climate change affects the future water supply from north to south, IPHROS is a potential solution to mitigate these supply issues. As noted above, Californians favor prioritizing alternative energy sources - this could include the proven pumped hydro storage component of IPHROS. Integrating the two systems has potential for the southern California region while addressing concerns of the majority of Californians according to the study.
