California Drought Update

In a March announcement Governor Gavin Newsom rolled back some drought emergency provisions that are no longer needed due to current water conditions. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor at California Drought.gov website the intensity of the California drought has decreased substantially. Still in the east portion of southern California concern continues. Imperial County, a key agriculture region, remains abnormally dry. There remain challenges, and building up long-term water resilience continues. The U.S. Drought Monitor map "depicts the location and intensity of drought across the country. The map uses 5 classifications: Abnormally Dry (D0), showing areas that may be going into or are coming out of drought, and four levels of drought (D1–D4)."
