California to plan for 10 percent less water by 2040

Updated: Aug 22, 2022

As reported August 11 by Sharon Udasin in The Hill California Governor Gavin Newsom announced revised strategies aligned with the planned water supply reduction of ten percent by 2040. Californians will need to "adapt to a hotter, drier future" "based on new data and accelerating climate change." Several approaches were announced including expansion of water storage and water recycling capacity. Water waste reduction, technology adoption, and desalination are all options planned or in consideration. Taken directly from the article - Karla Nemeth, director of the California Department of Water Resources, stressed that implementing these plans will require a firm partnership with local municipalities. The new strategy, she said, “means we have to do absolutely everything.” Please call or write your California state representative, water municipality, or utility provider to suggest IPHROS as a viable solution to be considered.
