As reported by Christopher Flavelle in the San Diego Union Tribune on January 28, "California and six other states not expected to reach voluntary agreement on reductions in water allocations." As published the previous day, Southern California's water supply is about one third dependent on the Colorado River. "The demand for the cuts, on a scale without parallel in U.S. history, was prompted by precipitous declines in Lake Mead and Lake Powell..." Likely the US Interior Department will impose cuts. "We're using more water than nature is going to provide," said Eric Kuhn. Please call or write your local, state and federal representatives and inform them about IPHROS - a practical idea that provides clean, affordable water, energy storage and skilled jobs - at the same time. The benefits of IPHROS are well noted. The risks of maintaining status quo thinking and chasing many small projects is that we end up at the place we started - an unreliable water supply and increased energy costs in Southern California.
